Have been wearing Royal Robbins Bluewater Shorts (or some variant thereof - the design has changed slightly over time) for 25 years. They are extremely comfortable, very practical, and wear like iron. Royal Robbins still uses metal snap closures and brass zippers where other brands have cheaped out with sewn on buttons that quickly come off, and plastic zippers that don't last. Additionally, these shorts are made from a very tough canvas fabric that is also nice looking and softens with washing to become quite comfortable. While not inexpensive, they are worth the price and equal or exceed far more costly outdoor apparel in all of the areas that count.
