We have purchased many pairs over the years. Shoebuy had a great price on them. My only complaint is that 2 pairs of socks arrived in a huge, boot-sized box. They could have easily shipped in a small shipping envelope.

I got the name off the bottom of the sock and found them on line. I have been putting them in a hot dryer trying to shrink them a bit.
good socksJanuary 20, 2010 Reviewer: saraled from santa monica, ca I love them. It always feels great opening a new pack of socks. I do regret not getting a little more padding on the bottom-

For years, my wife has complained about cold feet, hands and ears. This year I decided that if she just had some good clothing she would be more inclined to get out and exercise. Smartwool socks are just the thing she needed. With good hiking shoes, Smartwool socks, insulated gloves and a wool hat, we have been going out every day in 20-25 degree temperatures and a few inches of snow for 2 mile walks. If Smartwool socks can keep my wife's feed warm, they will work for anybody. They are warm, comfortable, don't make your feet sweat and have been very durable. I have some for myself and I have been wearing them everyday for weeks (several pair, washed after use!) and I wouldn't trade them for anything. They are easily worth the money. Do yourself a favor and get some.
More light wieght than mediumJanuary 08, 2010 Reviewer: Lou from Ohio I bought two pairs of these socks along with another item. I was a little disappointed in the thickness, but so far they seem to be wearing OK.
I love these socks!January 07, 2010 Reviewer: Hiker girl from Atlanta, Ga I bought these socks to wear with my new hiking boots. I wanted a sock with plenty of cushion as the boots rubbed against my right ankle. My boots have not made it to a hike yet. I have been breaking them in by wearing them to run errands. I am wearing two pairs of these socks with my boots and this lets me wear them for hours without the slightest discomfort.
January 06, 2010 Reviewer: Gabrielle from Lowell, Massachusetts Good, sturdy, thick hiking socks. My husband likes them a great deal. Would recommend and buy again.
Awesome socksJanuary 04, 2010 Reviewer: Anonymous from St Louis, MO Smartwool hiking socks are great. Warm and comfortable. And they wash extremely well. Got them for my husband for Christmas. I even have smartwool dress socks.

I'm Disappointed. The Quality Has Dropped Off............June 18, 2009 Reviewer: Bruce from San Jose, California I have worked in national, county, and city parks throughout my career. I have worked in very rugged environments. I have been buying Smartwool Hiking and Expedition socks for 20 years or so. I was absolutely the most loyal of customers, and I told everyone the subject came up with about how fantastic Smartwool Trekking and Hiker socks were. The socks were tight knit and your feet did not smell after working in them all day. They were great in the heat or the cold. I was recently disappointed by a drop in quality by both the Trekking and Hiker socks I have purchased in the last year. The Trekking and Hiker's aren't nearly as thick and tight knit as they used to be even though the price has remained the same. I will be looking for other socks the next time I buy.
Men's Smartwool Hiking Crew SocksFebruary 10, 2009 Reviewer: Elizabeth Mooney from New York, NY My husband likes them because they go with dress casual attire for work, but can be used for jeans weekends, and because they are made in the U.S.A.
1 out of 1 person found the following review helpful:Soft and warmJanuary 28, 2009 Reviewer: Shirley from Indiana I really liked these Smart Wool socks since they are a little heavier than the Smart Wool light crew socks that I like so well. They are so cushioned that I find myself wearing them around the house without shoes, something I seldom had done because of my cold feet. The one concern that I have had is that they are so thick that if the shoes already fit tightly the socks make them too tight and do not keep your feet warm and, of course, the shoes hurt your feet.
